Ignorance

by Maple Tree   Mar 29, 2021

As I vision human kindness
along roads of vacationing
walkers, I dream of unity.

Nothing barricades a soul more
than racist remarks and closed minds,
how can we as a human race bond?

Strung out on emotion as I rise
with arms reaching for simple acts
of compassion, only to be weighted
down by one thousand pounds of
ignorance.

We are all prisoners of noble neglect
and if one person remains blind
to the crying child whose skin is
darker than yours, then you
are the problem.

I cant ignore cries of a child can you?

Hungry and dying,
while you embrace warm blankets
and full bellies....

I just cant fathom
inhumane winds
within this turbulent
society we live in.

This should cut at all those who hold racial thoughts.

Small typo "than" should be 'then'
