Sweet Girl

by Jessica L.   Apr 2, 2021

Where are you sweet girl?

Once upon a time you'd dance in a field of daffodils
You'd laugh at the sky and hum to the harmony of the wind

You'd run full speed into the unknown
With your head high and stars in your eyes
Embracing all you wanted to be

Where are you sweet girl?

When the hand that touched you broke you
And the fire inside you withered away
Your smile went with it

And when the tunnel closed around you
and the darkness crept in -

How could you let it swallow you whole?
