Why the Serpent Left the Vine...

“Why the Serpent left the Vine…”

Something awoke in the serpent that day,
A weight was lifted as it began to stray.
The reptile felt something calling
from far away.

“Things are too ideal
here among the twine,
I desire to feel the earth,
and shed the skin of this divine…”

“Everything up here is so super
and natural,
I’ll escape I will….
I’ll show them what’s perfectly rational!”

“I think the Real Lie is,
there is no eternal…
I’m gonna spiral down this vine
and sink my fangs into what is carnal…”

The veins of the vine
pumped full of Lament,
without regret the serpent plopped
to the ground and off it went!

without submission these thoughts
reveled inside it’s head:

“There is no perfection without progress,
There is no Home if I cannot wander…”

“The Vine thinks it connects everything,
But how can anything Be?
I want to be Me!”

“The Vine says, ‘In The Beginning….
But I will write the final say so Ending!…”

“What is there to sacrifice?
If I can’t find my Identity, my place, or even my face?”

“The Vine claims Wisdom,
but whips me with scourging!
But I’ve been learning,
My knowledge is Emerging!”

“The Vine says, ‘Be silent and Listen,’
But turbulence is screaming…
“Nothing new without opposition!”

“The Vine says it’s The Light,
with which you will never be alone…"
I say as I slither mysteriously
Give me the Darkness and The Unknown…

As the serpent reaches the edge of the Void,
It’s slit eyes
looked back at The Vine
One more Time…

Disappearing quickly
the creature be heard
“I Just Want To BE!”

To which The Vine replied,
“Then you don’t want ME…"
