A Skeptical Nope

by Maher   Apr 14, 2021

Lay in my lap and lie while there.
Swear that the sun sets blue
and I'll find it in your stare.
I'll tread upon your words as you once tread upon mine,
myself and the faith you read blind.

I could count the days you loved me on one hand
and the days you lied on twelve.
"Never would the stars outrank the moon!"
This once fit fine in your world.

Then upon the waves you basked
in the ebb and flow of envy,
though you had what you wished for,
it was too far from plenty.

Yet on this day I hear you seek my name
among friends of friends with intentions well-placed.
Though I see you've changed and grown a heart;
our time is done, we'll stay apart.

Quick word on the structure: starts off messy and ends clean. Mimics the state of mind in such situations :)

I like this alot, the structure of it definitely says alot about the state of mind though. I reckon we've all been there.

Thanks Em, glad you like it. I reckon the same, but wouldn't learn as much without it :)

I like so much of this and, although, it's structure is fluid, it does reflect one's mind. When a heart has been repeatedly clawed, it is no surprise when it says, no more!
