Wildflowers

by cassie hughes   Apr 19, 2021

Uncultivated, wild they bare their all,
By natures careful hand brought forth with love,
In light or shaded dapple, bright or pale,
Their silent beauty sings to gods above.

Each thoughtful cowslip, foolish columbine,
May bloom untroubled in the quaking grass,
And dandelions roar loudest in the rain,
Whilst harebells weep for all the world has lost.

Brave borage stands for bees to hide within,
And youthful primrose tempts the butterflies,
Sweet daisy’s chain can crown a thousand queens,
Yet cruel nettle picks on passers by.

Their beauty lies around us everywhere,
And weaves a story timeless in its growth,
Unfolding words unspoken all can share,
In joy and peace like snowdrops bringing hope.

Some of the most beautiful flowers are those found in wild places. Glad this is nominated!

I agree Keira. I would much rather have a carpet of wild flowers than a formal garden any day! Thanks
