Palette of Petals

by Walter   Apr 22, 2021

A pencil in hand
Which came from a tree
With a blank sheet of paper
For what I foresee

A rose from our garden
Proudly blooms
And scents the air
With its perfume

Candles glow warm
Providing some light
It's all that is needed
Not dark and nor bright

You're sitting opposite
Reading your book
While I try to write
Although I just look

But instead of words
A page which was bland
Your outline is sketched
By my free hand

I'm not an artist
But an image portrays
Looking like you
With just shades of grey

And just as with nature
The scene which is set
I'm missing one colour
For my portrait

Petals of the rose
Glow like your skin
To highlight your beauty
Which comes from within

Your portrait now finished
Though abstract to view
But these are my feelings
When I look at you

Compared to surroundings
There's never a doubt
However grey the background
You always stand out

Just a lovely poem. Abstract art is always the best in my opinion. Enjoyed this one :)

I enjoyed this. Recently discovered you, but read your work before that. So either I did not pay good attention then or your poetry is evolving very strongly.
