    Question: can a watery world drown?
    I mean that’s the way I understood the poem. I mean I understood that the watery world that gave us life now cries as we drown its life... but how can that be possible? How can something made out of water drown? Even a fish won’t drown, a fish can suffocate in water though...

    If it were written as:

    as we drown our lives

    It’ll make more sense to me. Just because the watery world that gave us life is the same one were we drown our life in. Ironic.

    Or if it said something like:

    as we drink/drain/evaporate its life

    Just posting my two cents. I’m probably missing out something important but I’m closing my mind. I do like the syntuit though.

      I always like your feedback. "Drown its life" I meant that we are killing the sea and its sea life by over fishing, damaging habitats like reefs and of course our plastic, sewerage and other toxic pollution of it. The sea and its life is literally drowning by our hand. I guess the irony is funny, but it just is not!

    Hi Mr D,
    I like the title here because it really could mean it of things really with it being a syntuit - it could point to a person feeling regretful for a choice they've made or just point possibly to global warming and what we're doing to the planet and our ocean, maybe?

    This line, could be a person continuously crying because they're depressed, the past has made them this way - they've done something terrible and they regret or someone has done something terrible to them and they can't get over that which to be entirely honest I think many of us here can relate to either of the scenario really. That being said, it could again be about global warming as I heard on the radio around a month ago now that so much of London will be under water in years to come, not when we're around mind but it's quite scary isn't it?

    This lines makes me believe that this is about the earth/ocean because it gives us oxygen to breathe so to speak therefore, keeps us alive and to read that what gave 'us life now cries' saddens me although it's true as we've damaged our planet and even if we started taking care of it now what we've done is irreversible, unfortunately. My heart bleeds.
