The Stars that Eat Love

by Milo   May 10, 2021

Looking ahead
as the dark blue tides come crashing in,
I don't see you anymore.
I only see the lonely horizon
slowly giving up on me
as I stand here alone on the shore.

When my sad heart fades to night
screaming, twisting and choking at the bright stars
that shines all this time,
I feel the universe and her starry skies
swaying above me impatiently
with her cold indifference in her sighs
as the past, present and future
dines in silence on my flesh,
eating and watching me struggle
to finally say goodbye.

The stars shine with my pain,
that stretches across the vast distances of the sea
between the carcass of my lost soul
and the dead hopes and unfinished
dreams of you and me.

I don't know how to let you go
as they eat nonchalantly on our love.
So I just keep the words to myself
and close my eyes while I'm devoured,
dissolved and consumed until
there's nothing else left.
