Maybe Our Balance is the Horizon

by Star   May 18, 2021

You catch feathers
from mid air,
while I try to
protect the yellow
petals from falling
off a tulip.

You always tell me
there’s a way to
surf the skies,
but I find the earth
beneath more
settling.

I can't get over how dreamy and poetic the title is. I literally can't haha.

I read this with a tenderness that there is nothing wrong with how we approach things, whether someone is using their talents in what they know to be safe (not taking chances, doing what they know best, not risking leaving their comfort zone) versus though who want to "fly" - be adventurous and travel and live out their purpose in unknown lands. I also read it as an appreciation of someone being an introvert versus extrovert, and that neither one is wrong, just different. We don't always have to be challenging ourselves or rising to new heights. And those differences balance each other out and bring harmony.

I really love this, it's beautifully worded and delicate. I especially love the 'petals falling off a tulip', as tulips always do seem to fall apart with ease! The title is excellent, as well. Wonderful. Congratulations, a thoroughly deserved win :)

Absolutly poetical with a great sense of irony.
