Snapped

The last time I lay my eyes on you,
your right fist was carving bruises
as your left knee held me down -

Twenty one stone was no contest for me,
I had no choice but to take the beating
I didn't deserve, I never deserved them.

Half hearted apologies always came later
but you were never sorry, just scared that
I'd leave and you'd lose all control over me.

Today, you're back again with your charm
but I'm stronger and I'd give you everything
before I ever became involved with you -

No more second chances;
this divorce is my fresh start
and even if I die alone,
I'd die a happy women
for all ties to you will
eventually be
