River.

by Katrynn   Jun 17, 2021

I look intensely, desperately at the rushing water, at the deep river.

Looking for the key I've dropped.

I reach in, and gasp and at its coldness.

I see the key, it's in the middle;

I jump into the icy hot water and and lost in the current when you grab me.

You drag me out of the water.

You have my key.

But I don't think I need it.

    It sounds like the words are saying that the person who helped you find what you needed is who you truly needed, not the physical object. That you can't enjoy physical objects without those you love around you. It reminds me of how I couldn't eat chocolate when my heart was broken. This reminds me of the Strawberry Switchblade song "Deep Water", oh I love that song so much.

    My interpretation of this is that the key is love, but when you're given it it's not what you thought it would be, and it's not what you needed or wanted. I might be really wrong! I love this, it's dark but beautifully written and worded. . . really intriguing :)
