With Him on the Observation Deck

by nouriguess   Jun 19, 2021

I think you were the view.

You gave these heights
their magic. I think,
when the moon generously
lit the buildings,

it had borrowed your light. I think,
when people looked in awe
lifted their cameras, took photos,
it was your aura
and your scent.

I think in all the places,
I only observe you.

I agree that the simplicity here works so well, and just speaks wonders to the love and awe of this person. Their presence - everywhere. They're not just a sight to be seen and admired. They are filled with more emotion than even the grandest places on earth. I don't know what that's like, to be surrounded by distractions and breathtaking views, yet only see this person (whether physically in front of you or in their memory), but it must be astonishing and perhaps even overwhelming, in the best ways.

I loved this. It says so much in 'simple' terms which aren't simple at all if I must say so myself.. There's something majestic about this piece and I'm glad it's nominated
