What do you envision when you say salamander hearts?
    I’m very curious.

Hi Ben, the title 'regenerate' could really relate to anything from growing stronger/healing after a broken heart and coming up trumps or it could just be healing after a broken bone or grazed knew in my opinion. There are many ways humans/animals regenerate and I think aslong as we learn from our mistakes then all is good although we don't always learn do we?

    what bloody carnage

The opening to me shows that something is amiss, like a lover has done the dirty, possibly and left the other heartbroken and feeling worthless but if this is the case it says more about the one doing the dirty than the one having it done to them although at the time it doesn't feel this way. The use of 'bloody' makes me wonder if it's the 'swear' word or because there's blood everywhere from the said carnage.

    salamander hearts

Love this ending, it's quite different and packs a punch. This does remind me of the current times with Matt Hancock and his affairs for some reason. It just makes me think of the 'bloody carnage' he's left behind, the fool.

    Take care,
    Em xx

Thank you so much, Em. As for Hancock, there are many names I would choose for him other than the very moderate 'fool' that you labelled him as! Mind you, he is a politician, so we have to give him some leeway...

Clever write, Ben. If only our hearts were like a salamander's tail! Wait... they do, they heal and can live to love another day! Nicely composed :)
