I'm often jealous of
how deeply you sleep,
relaxing in a bed that knows
nothing of the memory of nightmares,
while I question my very existence.

But, if anyone deserves the most peace,
it's you, a beacon of light on tumultuous waters,

and at least one of us won't sail away.

Those who can sleep through peacefully not knowing anything are truly blessed...I always wonder how they do when I can't...
    Take care

This comes at a very relatable time. I am awake tonight far too late. I always read multiple levels within you and never found it similar to anyone else. Beautiful words. Sending good energy, rest, and a blessing.

Often others don't know what we go through in life. I love the way this poem is written because it's a testiment to how each person is feeling. You show us your perspective, but you also show us how you feel about the thing next to you.

Sleep is difficult to come by when we are filled with anxious thoughts and as you said in the poem nightmares. I think the overlaying message is mental health. There are many emotions deep within.

As i said i feel anxiety is there for me from the first two lines. You lie awake at night struggling with life. These lines read depression for me because you are struggling with suicidal ideation or even thoughts. I can connect well with this.

Then you showcase the feelings you have that are genuine. You leave the reader guessing to whom it might be however it could be a partner, but more likely a pet.

I say this because it feels like they have been with you for a long time and they have been your security blanket for years. Despite everything you are going through, you wish them well and they might be the only light you have in your life.

Structurally this is a well written poem. You told a sad story that speaks of hope.
