The Joker

by CJ Maleney   Jul 15, 2021

I see the funny side in everything
And sometimes I feel ashamed
My filter is messed up somewhat
And I question who is to blame

Is this just who I am?
Was I constructed slightly wrong?
Or did God say let's have a play
And see how this idiot gets along

I am often found inappropriate
And so often I will react
To situations that require thought and poise
Things spill past my lips without any kind of tact

Whether you concur or not
This is the essence that is me!
I was born to be just who I am and I won't change.
Despite your sensibilities

I don't care if you like or hate me
I don't care if you oppose my views
I am entitled to my opinion and I will float them
Just like the rest of you

I will take jest at every juncture
Because I can't forget my past
But some don't grasp the gift of irony
And perhaps humor they do lack.

If my words do offend you
And if my humorous jokes just won't play
You have an easy option and solution

Don't read! but look away

I like the honesty and the raw emoions you have laid out here.

    I like this line

"I was born to be just who I am and I won't change."

That's true, a lot of people change themselves to be liked, wanted etc. Only a few appreciates the real thing. Well penned.
