I thought I once knew
Just how to define hollow
But came back empty

Your purposeful play on words here with "empty" hit me. I feel almost a numbness in reading this, when the depression can reach that point where we can't simply articulate our grief, or the heaviness of what we're feeling, or lack thereof. There's a disassociation in a way; we can't connect to others or to our feelings anymore.

A melancholy write indeed, Walter, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Poet, I really appreciate you writing this comment and it's exactly how I hoped the senryu would be interpreted.
