Thanks to you.

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 10, 2021

My faith in humanity
wanes more and more each day.

I don't hold sympathy in
my veins anymore,
not for you at least.
My concern is saved for
the youth in hospitals,
not the ones who waste
resources because of the
freedom to choose,
white-out lungs
coated in selfishness,
the hissing of ventilators
crowding cramped spaces.

You don't care if you
endanger others.

You politicize death
and scientific evidence,
making us breeding
grounds for new
mutations.

We're overpowered
by an idiocracy
that will cost us
years of peace.

But at least no one
infringed on your rights.

At least you could throw
a catastrophic tantrum
to defend your beliefs.

Just don't ask for help
when you die from the
consequences.
