Why did you meet me?

by The Parrott King Jordan R. Stephens   Aug 24, 2021

Take away what you said.
Rip it apart before I bleed.

Sworn to secrecy, you told nothing
and left a curtain over your life.
Hands, gentle, worked so hard;
Cut to ribbons, self defence born of a
forlorn existence. All ponds are oceans.

We swim out of our depth,
limbs flailing, fear grinning,
drowning eyes flooded.

Bouyant, blood from every failure
makes us float. The past
never ceases to catch up.

It never ceases
to remind me
that I’ve failed.
Or was it you?
Self serving monster
corrupting.

Warping the planks you walked.

I can’t tell anymore.

I have no home.

Hands call with callus voices.
I know my choices.
Smiling faces, I can’t
waste my time.
You look so perfect.
Why did I meet you?
It’s a war.
It’s agony.
It never ends.

You erase

All
