The Eye Of The Dragon

by CJ Maleney   Sep 20, 2021

I've lived my life for eternity,
So many things for me to see.
The rise of man and its fall from grace,
So many things can't be replaced.

I've seen fires burn on mountains,
I've seen fish boil in the sea,
But know that I am dragon.
And these acts not borne not me.

I seek just to exist in peace.
Though I do have both tooth and claw,
I can rain down on you the fire,
But I do not ask for war.

I hide from your existence,
Because all you do is consume,
But I'm the one you fear.
The impending sound of doom.

The fire that you should fear?
Is the one that you created!
And as the last dragon on this earth,
I shall not be berated.

So make your petty wars,
And then ask who is to blame!
You are a dragon just like me,
But I control my flame.

      Thank you.

I started writing this with a a specific thought then it kinda morphed from the original concept. Not quite sure how but I think what's going on in the world influenced its flow.

      Regards
