Carry my bones with you If you survive And if you don't, tell me Just how did you die? Was it with glory? With honour or fame? How many cared for you? Shouted your name? Did you die lonely With nobody there Bones bleached by sunlight and cool autumn air Did you know it would happen? Were you glad that it did? Did you grasp at the future? Or perhaps you just hid Did you make a difference? Did you reach all your goals? Or is there inside you A great empty hole Did you notice the time As it fast slipped away The wrinkles that grew And the pain, how it stayed Did you spend your money Or hoard it in fear Give gifts to your friends Or forget that they're here How much did you learn? And how much you forget? Did you gain true wisdom Or gather regret? Did you remember me? Was life too fast? Did you discover That not much can last? My questions are over I still have no clue And I hear no answers... Just silence from you © Obscure 2021 (I'm not sure why I wrote this, but I imagined it to be a dead character talking to someone they once knew)
