More Than Bliss

by Walter   Oct 8, 2021

But what is love
And do we know?
Or is it something
We don't all show

Is it natural
Or do we learn?
Perhaps it's something
That we must earn

And what emotions
Should we expect?
Are there any
Which are correct

And why do many
End in flames?
Where broken hearted
We each both blame

Why love in nature
It seems so bliss?
But somehow humans
Seem to miss

Are we just selfish
And wanting more?
Where love has simply
Become a score

Have we forgotten
What true love means?
The one inscribed
Within our genes

The one which both
Will make us yearn
And just as needing
To return

Because love is rare
When eyes just feed
And seldom what
We either need

Because loves a book
And not a page
Because love is rich
But not a wage

As there is only
One love that's true
And this has to come
From all of you

Because most of all
For love to pair
You will feel its touch
When in the air

How come nobody has commented on this?

You etched such a wonderful piece. I love the rhyming, I enjoyed the way, you detailed love, the essence and true nature of it.

Each stanza builds on the last, painting a strong picture of the definition of love - the true emotions it can convey and the absolute beauty it brings into our hearts.

The way you ended the poem was genuine and captivating.

Definitely one of my favorite poems. I am a hopeless romantic and even though I have been hurt - love poems are always gentle and softly reminds me how beautiful it is.
Your poem helped spark that loving feeling once again in this broken heart and I thank you for that.

    Keep it up!
