You were yellow

by Shining Stars   Nov 4, 2021

You were never purple;
I was.
You see,
You were too light to be purple.
There was way too much sunshine in you-
A brightness that flowed and touched everything in your path.
You were beautiful.
You lit up every room;
Every building.
Anything that you came into contact with was immediately glowing-
Myself included.
I radiated with love and growth around you;
There was no darkness,
Not even a single speck.
Every past mistake that I had ever made dissipated in your presence-
It was like none of it even mattered anymore.
Your smile melted me like butter in a hot pan;
And your laugh was the most healing sound I had ever heard.
You were never purple,
I was.
I was the bold dark purple who was hurting way too much to find my place in life and you-
You were yellow.
You showed me the way and gave me all of the credit.
You were yellow.

    I didn't find the first few lines so remarkable but then you delved into some emotionally revealing lines and continued to build this clear and touching love story. The end seems to have a tone of sadness...maybe just me projecting?

    Great stanza!
    I was the bold dark purple who was hurting way too much to find my place in life and you-
    You were yellow.

    Well done and congrats
