Cornucopia.

by Poet on the Piano   Nov 25, 2021

It's a rainy, dreary day
and I know you don't want to
poke your head out of the covers.

I'll pick you up gently
and hold you steady,

as we get through the day together,

watching the kitchen as it lights up
with laughter and merriment,

hoping that today will last.

I'll make you a tiny portion
of mashed potatoes in the
fanciest dish I can find,
with a teaspoon of gravy and maybe
some pumpkin on the side.

We'll probably start a fire
after dinner, and I'll lean against
you with a glass of wine,
and we'll be content for now.

And I'll be thankful that I have
another day with you.
