Dreamer

I do not dream
For I have found the waking
Full of pain
And yet I dream of you

Your hand in mine?
I reach out and I falter
To wish for love
To know it can't be altered

I must retreat
To tangle up my thoughts
And then return
Tear-stained and quieter

Time is heartless
It offers me distance
From everything
Even the things I love

I'll be content
With caring from afar
If that can mean
Our friendship will succeed

You're amazing
I'm so glad that we met
I want to hope
This dream might never end

But if it ends
By cause unknown to me
I'll cherish this,
A dreamer's memory
