Waxing Crescent Daydreams

by Kate   Dec 6, 2021

A slight chill ripples through with the incoming
gentle tide as I bury my toes in the sand,
Staring out to the blurred misty skyline, unsure
of where water and soft sky truly meet.
Song fills my ears on repeat, waves in its background: Nothing by Bruno Major.
Even in the presence of relaxing beauty,
my mind always finds its way back to you.
I’m paralyzed in place, the cuffed ends of my
jeans soaked as the water flows in
As I imagine your footsteps in the sand beside
mine, running our feet through the shallows,
How the softest gray glow of the sky would
light the exquisite features of your face.
I’d give you one of the earbuds, wrap my arms
around your waist to pull you into a dance,
Spinning us around in slow circles as I
whisper the same lyrics in the other ear.
Until I stumble over my own feet, mixing them
up with your own and frustrated giggles
Before grounding myself with a lace of our
fingers and the feel of your lips.

I’ll send those daydreams to rest in the
radiant waxing crescent moon overhead.
And pray the feeling in my chest is reciprocated.
