Unquiet.

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 11, 2022

She used it tonight, my new name,
pulling me aside and brightly exclaiming,
"I changed your name in my phone
the moment you told me",

and I am not all all surprised by
the ease in which she accepts me,

but for everyone else, I exist in hushed hues,
told I am mystery no one wants to be burdened with.

I don't want this fear staining my lips whenever I speak.
I want to continue as before, a waltz that lives on despite
slight changes and interruptions here and there.

It shouldn't be this hard to come out.
