Walk of Life

There is a path in steps we take
For the life we wish to make
Sometimes we don't have a choice
No matter how we yell our voice

In life there are no guarantees
Or wishes that will come with ease
And most of us have been hurt
With pain that we cannot avert

We see ourselves at the top
But fall to pieces when we drop
It's safer here on level ground
Instead of aiming out of bounds

We don't always have to climb
Aiming for whatever's prime
Just be happy where we are
With what we have achieved so far

There always will be those who judge
On the fence they'll never budge
But be glad you're on your feet
Instead of trying to compete

When you look around you'll find
Soon realising you were blind
And with your life learn to accept
Be proud of all the paths you've stepped

Where all the things that mean the most
Not just the highs that you boast
Be happy where your prints now stand
Instead of leaving them in sand
