Our minds and hearts together will make this plan come to fruition
Step One: Foundation
We have to make sure we build a strong foundation
It has to be able to withstand the weight of our strengths and weaknesses
No matter how much we fight; we need to know that we will be able to stand on it without it breaking
We are in this together; it’ll be stronger than ever from past attempts
Step Two: Walls
Most of the walls we used were from the walls for our protection
Now it’s being used for our little piece of Utopia
We build windows to let the sun or moon bask the rooms with light and hope
Doors used to open possibilities but close them on the past.
Step Three: Layout
We have an open floor plan concept layout
Signifies that we have open communication together
There will be spiral stairs
Life can spiral but we will take the steps together
Step Four: Kitchen
We will work as a team to cook a meal to share together
Washing the dishes will still be fun with our banter
The place where we will share a dance at random times of the day
We will both sneak down and share a midnight snack at the kitchen table
Step Five: Living Room
The place where we can curl up and watch a movie
The fireplace illuminating our silhouettes
Where we can talk about our troubles to victories
The place we exchange our presents on Christmas morning
Step Six: Dining Room
The place where our families gather as one to celebrate the holidays
It’s where we host our friends for dinners, drinking, and gaming
The room that has some of our date nights; the candle’s fire striking our desires
Man, if that table could talk it would have a lot to say
Step Seven: Offices
We understand that we both have our own careers and aspirations
We also have our own hobbies
A life outside our relationship, but still work as a team
We try to have a good work and life balance
Step Eight: Bedroom
This is where our desires come out to play
You take control and make my body quiver with every touch and command
Then we curl up together and at this moment nothing else matters
It’s different this time because we will fall asleep and wake up together for the years to come
Step Nine: Bathroom
The place where sometimes you wonder what is taking me so long to get ready
Every time it is worth it when I open that door; you see me with fresh eyes
A bath to soak the worries away with a glass of wine
Showering together sometimes we get dirty more than clean as the steam fogs up the glass
Step 10: Closets
This is where our baggage stays
Through the years we will be unpacking
No more wandering around trying to find a home
We love the other and are here to stay
Step 11: Garden
We planted a garden together
It’s where we buried our seeds of past traumas and mistakes
We will grow as individuals and as a couple
Our love isn’t just for one season but throughout time
Step 12: The final step is the front
We have the picket fence that let people come and go
But we shall always have each other
We will be sitting on rocking chairs as we clink our glasses
