Thunder rolls through the air
ferrying a heavy darkness
to feed the fear below.
The ground trembles
and blasted debris rains
where once peaceful honour stood.
Such is the price the innocent must pay
when mad men force ignoble
dreams upon the real world.
“Never again”, the words so easy roll
from lips in service to the past.
Yet heedless are the ears
turned ‘stead to despots lies
amidst their lust for power.
A plume of noisome fire extends
its claw like fingers up as if
to burn the very sun out from the sky.
And distant chilling guns sound
emulating corks in parody of
celebration for their lethal aims.
Yet even as the world observes and stills
One small courageous army still stands tall
To face the devil they will give their all.
