I adore longer titles, and I don't know what else to say other than the title feels like a hug. When I think of the ocean, I think of depths un-imagined, and of frigid cold water. But here, you counter that. It reminded me of thinking and dreaming of what others may say is impossible, when in reality, they are wanting to keep you at the shore, within their sight. But sometimes it does take addressing the fear headfirst, taking risks and moving into the unknown. On another read-through, I noticed a taste of sadness. A dream of meeting the horizon, and meeting more than what you are currently seeing and living, a dream of being more than what grounds you to one place. I can't get the image of the water on the beach out of my head. Sometimes our dreams can seem so fragile and like they will never be permanent fixtures in our life, and watching the water rush over them, perhaps comparing our dreams to the sand, can make us wonder if they will ever reach more than just hopeful wishes. But this piece gave me a hope, and your images in such few lines really carry this piece and make it calming to read. Congrats on the win! |
