Spiderweb

by Obscure   Apr 19, 2022

I reach with spider webs for fingers
Connecting souls within my life
I try to stifle pain that lingers
But then I suffocate the light

I'll let the web direct my actions
A puppet show where I'm the star
See I'll perform with no distractions
And few will view me with alarm

How much can one existence manage
Before it crumbles from the weight?
You'd think I might have an advantage
But my addiction's in the way

I follow strings to where they drag me
Too tired to put up a fight
I want to limit how much you see
So I'll use better ways than lies

I piece the truth together nicely
Each morsel oh so neatly wrapped
So please excuse my skepticism
When you say
You'll love me with no strings attached
