As inquisitive humans
We find questions we must ponder!
Why does it rain so damn much in April,
Only to turn so damn dry in July?
Why does those that have so much,
Watch while so many go hungry?
What makes Democrats and Republicans in Congress,
Take our money and yet get nothing done?
Why do our loved ones sometimes die so young?
What makes a trout swim upstream to spawn?
Why do some children have great parents,
While others suffer at the hands of an abuser.
Lately I find myself pondering,
Why am I watching so many Ukranians die?
How could we have fought for so many years trying to make counties Democratic,
Only to watch Democracy be taken away
From Ukraine?
Why when Putin threatened nuclear weapons,
We pacified the bully by acting cowardly?
What will we do when Putin wants us to give him New York,
And he threatens us with a nuclear bomb, take a star off our flag?
When I was eighteen,
Why did I chase down two purse snatchers who robbed and eighty-two year old woman?
Maybe because it was the right thing to do!
We can sit over here and watch Ukranians die and have their homes leveled.
Or, we can do what's right and not wait three years like we did in World War II, until after millions of Jews were killed.
If the strong won't help the weak,
What good is their strength?
