Retorta Cordis

by Vera Campbell   May 16, 2022

Forgiven, forgotten,
A twisted Mary Poppins.
A questionable duo,
With a puzzling thing to know.
Keeping in line with time,
This monstrous crime.
It'll make you wonder,
Why you're deep down under.
This icicle drips and drips,
Ought to be careful to not trip.
Better keep quiet,
Wouldn't want to start a riot.
These trees hover over me,
They remind me of who we must be.
They make us to stay where we are,
No matter how far.
Even if you wish to be nothing like the trees,
They'll bring you to your bruised knees.
