Who gave the horse its vaunted strength, Its eyes, filled with thunder? The glory of its majesty Fills the heart with wonder! His nostrils snort a mighty breath, He paws the valley floor! He charges into battle with A terrifying roar! He won’t withdraw from spear or sword, He mocks his frightened foe! He lifts his legs into the air, And lands a crushing blow! A captain calls him from afar, The sound rings in his ears! His speed confounds the enemy, Their arrows and their spears! And only when the trumpet blasts Will his fierceness relent. With victory comes his reward, To graze until content! Who is the horse’s architect? Who set him on his course? Whose keen artistic reverie, Gave power to the horse?
