Forgiveness

by Sunshine   Aug 6, 2022

One night,
I just woke up naked on the inside.
It was an eerie evening,
or so I thought.
Cold wrapped my dead skin
with life and soul.
Haven't you wished that
I'd sincerely acquit you?
with all my heart & conscience..
I did.
One eerie night,
I just woke up
on the inside,
and I was so bare of you.

That ending line - I can't get over! Going to come back to this in a few days. I love the meaning of forgiveness here. And it makes me think how we all perceive forgiveness. Sometimes, it's with relief, and we feel warm and ready to move on. Other times, I feel there's a coldness, an emptiness, something we can't explain. I don't ever feel like forgiveness is owed - it's such a personal thing already. Great to see a new poem from you <3
