Releasing the Hold

by Chelsea   Sep 18, 2022

Left out in the cold,
my bones are feeling old.
I look in the mirror & I see,
That I'm only 17

You drive without stopping,
The rocks in my feet,
tired from stomping...
You're all that matters.
I feel everything;
Shadows.

They've taken a hold.
I'm losing my soul
As you refuse to hit the breaks,
I begin to shake.

Scarlett rains on the bathroom floor...
You should know that I can't take anymore

As darkness descends,
it's becoming clear it's the end.
He opens the bottle and the tiny pill,
I swallow.

The start of a whole different life,
it's too late tonight.
But this ISN'T the end.
Because the shadows have become my friends.

This was an incredibly powerful, emotional, haunting, and visual piece. I hope you feel free to post more here. Welcome to the site.
