sounding off! on yet another tangent

by Patrick Watson   Oct 19, 2022

age inflicts and time bites!
a fine line exists between perception and reality
my mirror reflects a millisecond, of time ago
my mind sees only my used to be

the rolls are cast, no audition required
this theatre is mine to own
luckily no mandatory lines to learn
just chin out and flying blind

mommy where are you?
pants down running scared
no longer driven by youths hot blood
out on a limb sawing away
singing “those, were the days my friend, we thought they would never end”

no personal Gods to crutch up on
science sowing threads, growing fields of revelations
excitement flooding my veins
it’s great to be, so alive!
