I Walk

by Weeping Willow   Dec 2, 2022

I walk
As if
The sound of the rain
On my jacket
Will cure me of all my sorrows

Droplets trickeling down
The wrinkled valleys of my coat
And I am renewed

The wet ferns tickling
My fingertips
And whisking away
My worries

Funny how
Amongst a storm
Is where I find my
Moments of peace

Alone in the woods
With sheets of rain
Falling down
I’m frozen in time
Inside a terrarium
Where only I exist
And everything
Glistens

This piece was mesmerizing to me, acknowledging both the sadness and the feeling of being heard and able to be validated in your existence here. I also find peace and a sense of self during the mightiest of storms. Maybe it's because it's easy to get lost in it, and like you said, where things are frozen in time. The last seven words? Pure poetry, reminding me of the quote of "all that glitters is not gold". I hope you've been doing well, it's been awhile since I've read your work. Added to my favorites!

Thank you! It appears to be a different world when everything is covered in droplets. Like an alternate reality where my problems don’t exist. I’m so happy to have work for you to read. I’ve been putting in a lot of work on myself and making many hard but also fulfilling discoveries. I hope you are well and finding moments of peace amongst any turmoil. Take care.
