The night bathes the forest in red And the leaves gnaw at tired old bones Oh child, go, go back to bed Or you’ll never find your way home The whispers of lost wander by No body attached to their tones As soft as the wind in the sky Come with me, we’ll leave here alone Oh wander for me, little stranger Leave all of these worries to rest Nobody remembers your failures Now tell us all, what else is left? Become someone else for a moment Disguise what is left of your face Your emptiness feels so familiar But your roots won’t let you escape What purpose is left for a being? To fuel what’s already decayed You lingered too long in the forest So here in the forest you stay © Obscure 2022
