The bonding

by Skyfire   Mar 23, 2023

I ran from you,
a skittish yearling,
shy at the sight of
tenderness
and unable to
stand too close.
Patient, you rubbed my
skin and held my hands,
brushing at my
heart until the dust
fell away and it
gleamed.
Our hearts
galloped together
in perfect paces then -
free.
