Faced with mortality, we are all consumed
By a creeping sense of dread, a fear unassuaged;
We try to shake it off, but it sticks like glue,
Our hearts heavy, our minds a stormy deluge.
Death, that final, unyielding curtain call,
Our fates sealed, as the sands of time fall;
The end, a specter that haunts us all,
Reminding us, that we are not immortal
The unknown, a fate we cannot foresee
The afterlife, a mystery beyond degree,
Our mortality, an unavoidable reality
A shadowy presence, a constant liability.
But even as we face our inevitable end
We can still find joy, love, and friendship;
We can live with passion, without pretend,
Making the most of every precious moment.
So let us embrace life, with all its hues
Dancing in the rain, singing the blues;
For in the end, when the final bow is through
We'll leave behind a legacy, bright and true.
