Trapped beneath the burning
heat of a remote suns rays
directed maliciously through innocuous lens
the ant lays fixed in place
unable to escape a doom it does
not understand.
Insect screams in silence lay thick
upon the summer air
until all that is left
is a thin line
of formless
ash.
