I climb up onto the bed
as I lay down for the night
I lay there and listen to you
and in my heart I know all is right
a smile creeps upon my face
and a little giggle escapes out
I snuggle just a little bit closer
releasing all of my previous doubts
I put my hand on your arm
letting you know that I’m there
I hear your slight murmur
saying how much you care
I take in your love
something I will always keep
thoughts of our future
as I drift off to sleep
I fall into the darkness
panic taking over my mind
memories of anger and depression
as my emotions start to bind
I take in a deep breathe
but there you are on cue
freeing me from my chains
making me like brand new
a crooked smile appears
as you take my face in your hands
you tell me you got me
even if you don’t understand
the weight feels gone
as long as you’re by my side
I no longer feel lost
or that I have to hide
you take my hand
and suddenly I can see it all
us together, with everyone
saying vows inside a hall
taking trips to exotic places
the stories we’ll portray
buying our first house
being with each other everyday
starting a family
doesn’t matter what kind
but I finally see a future,
it’s laid out all in my mind
I can feel the longing and passion
the desire to never leave
it’s something I don’t deserve
or so I believed
my heart is so fragile
scarred from the past
bloodied tears and broken dreams
of things that didn’t last
but this time it’s different
the feelings are completely new
I know this time I got it right
all because of you,
so even though I’m scared
and there’s so much at stake
finally I’m ready to leave it all behind
and I can’t wait to wake.
