A flattering smile,
a laugh like the sun
but something’s under there
that will make you run
sarcastic jokes,
laced with venomous honesty
that smile can twist
into something you don’t want to see
fangs come out
covered by an innocent pipe dream
but listen closely
it’s not what it seems
as word come out
they may seem fake
but I won’t waste my time
I already know what’s at stake
love flows through me
until it turns to hate
at that point though

appreciation turns into cynicism
