The Moments We're Missing

by Walter   Jun 29, 2023

I won't let time claim a win
And be the enemy
Nor protest that life has moved
So fast behind of me

There comes a point we all reflect
And wonder where it's gone
Where most of us live in the past
Refusing to move on

And I don't worry getting old
But glad I'm still alive
Because I know there'll be many souls
Who did not survive

It doesn't matter what year you turn
It should never go downhill
Don't let it be a regret in life
That you did not fulfill

Remember when you were young
And you did not complain
With every spare moment found
You'd play your favorite game

I think we overprioritize
When work seems to obsess
That we'll use this to value life
And judge all our success

Don't be fooled that's all there is
Where all you do is give
And let this vicious cycle rule
Where you forget how to live

Instead create a memory
With family and your friends
And don't look for that same excuse
But try to make amends

I'd want to look back with a smile
On how my life was spent
Rather than let it pass me by
Then wonder where it went...

A really good message and reminder to live in the present! It can be incredibly hard to not get stuck in the past, or catastrophize on what will happen in the future... but there needs to be a balance on us finding peace and acceptance within ourselves. I know I struggle with comparing where other people are at in their lives as opposed to where I'm at, but all our journeys are so different and unique. And it's sad when so much of our success is measured by what we can or can't contribute, that can really disrupt our sense of self-worth and what we measure our life by. Thanks for sharing and hope you've been well, Walter!
