September

Stifling and torrid was
the day you passed.
Not a breath of wind
cradled the victims
of a season yet to come,
failed runaways
now forever lost.

On that day,
not a cloud dared to stain
the cerulean innocence
nor a bird sought to break
the deafening silence.
Earth itself
took the day off.

The first verse has set the mood, feeling, atmosphere and a somber image. The second inage goes hand in hand and ends with Earth's mood too...nicely captured.
