Near Miss

by Walter   Aug 12, 2023

To that person who drove, so careless today
Who missed me by inches and didn't give way
And laughed with your friends, your car that was full
Then went speeding off, like a charging bull

Maybe I'll pass you, when you feel regret
Just moments later, where the road is all wet
When you lose control, just fooling around
Where none of your tyres, remain on the ground

Your car is all crushed, but your friend got the brunt
Now he's not breathing, because of your stunt
And you will survive, not even one bruise
While your friends at the back, unconscious will lose

How do you explain, when the police will arrive
Because of your speeding, your friend's not alive
Then telling his parents, can you imagine their pain?
Where you say 'I'm sorry' again and again

There's no excuse for this hurt you have caused
So easily avoided, if you would have paused
And I hope I don't see you, when the road bends
But pray you'll survive, along with your friends

What an amazing poem! Speeding is certainly dangerous. It's a pity those don't consider the drastic consequences to themselves and others. Your poem addresses this subject perfectly.
