A Hidden Ocean

by Ben Pickard   Aug 23, 2023

I do recall your vibrant eyes
And how you framed your lips
I so regret those last goodbyes
That left our stars eclipsed
The tragedy of reckless youth
Was woken when we met
I now compose the wretched truth:
Our hapless path was set

I oftentimes will sit and muse
What seas you sail upon
But sunlight never dries the dew
And what is lost is gone

There is something so satisfying about reading your rhymes aloud, Ben! Also, nothing can beat the rhythm, as well as the nostalgia and melancholy I often feel in your pieces.
