Forget me (please do) not

by Poet on the Piano   Oct 9, 2023

Do you stay up at night
thinking of our crusades?
Do you hold any regret
between shoulder blades?
Do you ruminate
if I'm safe and sound?
Do you know the impact
of being found?

Do you understand
the trust exchanged?
Do you feel the grief
of hope estranged?
Do you hear the strain
of quelling my voice?
Do you understand
you had a better choice?

Do you ask these questions
when doubt repeats?
Do you forget me easily
when the sun retreats?

I love this! The accusatory intensity increases as you near the end. Well written.

The succession of questioning transmit a feeling of unquietness at the heart, too much worries and too much anxiety. I feel you, even though I don't relate, and that's how I know you've done a great job at making your feelings clear.

I don't know, I go away for a few years only to return and find MA rhyming.
    Must be a parallel universe.
    Loved this.

Another rhyming piece from you. You're nailing it though. Love the play in the title, also the last stanza. Great job!
