Poetry And Mossy Forest

by Mahal Ko Kuya Ko   Oct 16, 2023

Mossy forest,
have you ever dreamt of me?
I must've dreamt of sonnets
'cause rhymes have been
starving me.

Was it when I was three?
I'd come play with you
and bring April skies with me
while you would show
your tender showers
and how your dewdrops glow.

I'd listen to your snores
when you were fast asleep.
Were you absorbed by your dreams
though they were not too deep?

Was it your whistle I heard once?
I was so in love
with your morning hues
and evening dance.
We spoke through odes
and flowing stars,
we sang with the wind
and ate our chocolate bars.

Mossy forest,
have you ever dreamt of me?
Would you think of me as summer rain
or abandoned poetry?

    Hi,
You are really clever by choosing words, it's moving and lyrical.

"Was it your whistle I heard once?
    I was so in love
    with your morning hues
    and evening dance.
    We spoke through odes
    and flowing stars,
    we sang with the wind
    and ate our chocolate bars"

(My favorite stanza, I can feel the longing :( the metaphor you used are spot on)

    "Mossy forest,
have you ever dreamt of me?
Would you think of me as summer rain
    or abandoned poetry?"

(The last line pull ones string..something inside of me screaming pain)

    I loved it lil bro.

I haven't been here lately but it pleases me to come across this enchanting poetry of yours. The imagery is just so melancholic yet beautiful. I found myself repeating the lines:
    ~Mossy forest,
have you ever dreamt of me?~ seems like very familiar with heart.

Thank you for sharing this excellent writing.

This feels like a childhood memory of fog and yet it's warm as well. There seems to be a still feeling throughout the whole thing, in both the mossy forest and the abandoned poetry. I really like it!

This is such a dreamy write. I love how you address the forest directly and ask it questions. It feels more intimate that way and I love the visuals and atmosphere you create. It takes me back to being a child and in awe of nature (which I still am!). It's magical and special, that bond. And there's some nostalgia in this too. Making me think of when life was perhaps more easily understood, where you could let your mind wander freely, and not be burdened by everything on the outside.

    Lovely!
